SONY VS Anonymous
As my fellow author michelle has said the playstation network may have in fact been cyberhacked my the infamous group “anonymous”. Now some of you may think why would they do that. Well little do many of you know much like big time games there is a very interesting and intense back story to all of this. It all started when Sony filed lawsuit after lawsuit against anonymous hackers Geohot and Graf_Chokolo. GeoHot, The iphone jailbreak creator, is being accused of disassembling the security systems and codes in the playstation and making them availiable on the internet allowing whoever possed the knowledge to make homemade applications for their Playstations. Anonymous did not take kindly to this lawsuit claiming Sony is abusing the judicial system in an attempt to cover up how their product works. They claim GeoHot did nothing wrong as he was only experimenting with HIS playstation. They also stated that he never signed into psn with his console so no terms of service were ever accepted from his part. Anonymous officially warned Sony a few weeks before the attack with an image on their website that stated the lawsuits were “deemed wholly unforgivable” and warned them of the wrath of Anonymous. On Wednesday of last week psn players began to see this wrath as all their online capabilities began to crumble under the control of Anonymous. However this wasn’t nor is it the end. Anonymous has also teamed up with SonyRecon and OpSony hacker groups for the attack on Sony. They also have targeted Sony employees who were considered useful to them by finding everything from phone numbers to home addresses to their relatives names. Both SonyRecon and OpSony however have seemed to take on the task of targeting those involved in the case of GeoHot, with many member of OpSony actually singling out the judge in charge of the case. Sony has since hired Prolexic, a company who mainly specializes in defeating DDoS attacks - The kind of attacks Anonymous used to take down Sony. While they have managed to keep Anonymous at bay the hacker group not seemed to be shaken at all. Anon member Takai contacted the author at playstationlifestyles.net - the author who first covered the story. Takai had a few things to say about Prolexic and Sony. When pressed about if they would take out Prolexic Takai stated,
“well, if I had to put money on it… I’d say Prolexic is going down like a two dollar Wh**e in a Nevada chicken ranch”
but also congratulated them for doing so well. Takai then warned that Anonymous has its own ways of dealing with Prolexic. While it began to seem like the PSn attack was their biggest target Takai made it clear that it was not stating:
So far, all Sony has seen from us is poking and prodding. A simple salute to let them know, we’re coming. Make no mistake, what you saw today and thought to be frustration is merely preparation for what’s to come. We said, expect us. Counting us out, would be a mistake. ;)”
Later he said:
For the sake of not shooting ourselves in the foot, I won’t comment on specific operational tactics we may or may not employ here. I will however say, that if Sony thinks LOIC is the only trick in our hat … they’re in for a hell of a wake up call. We’re really going all out for this one.
There are many different faces to the operation. Something we encourage is creative thinking
Consumers however are caught in the middle. On one hand Anonymous is saying that they are sticking up for consumers but on the other many gamers are left without their online access. One thing we do know is that this war is far from over and for Sony the worst is yet to come

What's with the PSN?
According to this article, PSN has been “cyberattacked.”
As you are no doubt aware, the current emergency outage is continuing this afternoon and all Sony Online Network services remain unavailable. Our support teams are investigating the cause of the problem, including the possibility of targeted behavior by an outside party. If the reported Network problems are indeed caused by such acts, we would like to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service. Our engineers are continuing to work to restore and maintain the services, and we appreciate our customers’ continued support.
The hacks were apparently caused by a group of the “Anonymous.” But honestly, PSN needs to get their shit together if they were easily hacked by this. Sony is a multi-trillion dollar company that let hundreds of credit card information be leaked. They most likely have to rebuild their entire network. Well.. At least Xbox Live is up.

Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
First off this game looks amazing. I love bethesda games. Fallout 3 was my absolute favorite RPG but oblivion comes right after. I still have both and can play them without getting bored. I hope skyrim lives up to the hype because if it does this game will definitely be amazing game of the year material. I have watched video after video about the making of this game and all the new engines they used for it. Almost everything is built with next gen material from the weapons to the way the trees look to the way it snows. This game looks very promising I can truly say it will be hard to wait for this one.

Posted in: opinionThe Problem with Kid’s Games
I like all genres of games, be it shooting, strategy, racing, or music; I enjoy them all. I can pop headshots in a Black Ops match; I can jam out on the guitar in Rock Band, or come in dead last in a game of blur. Recently, I've become enamored with the kid's series of Lego games, such as Lego batman and Lego Indiana Jones. I don't know why, but the series has always appealed to me.
Each Lego game has a different story, (duh, it's in the title of their respective games) but still focuses on the linear beat 'em up and puzzle gameplay. The games usually tell the story of the movies with charming little cutscenes, albeit dialog, giving the player a chuckle. It's simple enough to pick up and play, but intricate enough to keep you hooked. In my opinion, they're a great series of games, especially when you've got a local second player to join in on the mayhem. (Sorry, no online multiplayer capabilities with these ones!) But it's not just Lego games that appeal to me; there's an entire army of kid's games that I'm allowed to enjoy, each with their own charm and wit.
Anyways, these games can seem flawless, if not for one thing: the attitudes of gamers around you. Gaming has evolved from being child's play into full blown franchise, each competing amongst each other. With this evolution, new breeds of gamers emerge. You've got casual gamers, hardcore gamers, etc. More often than not, you come across more hardcore gamers than casual. No problem there, but some gamers are just arrogant. You've done this before: opened up someone's gamer profile, either to send them a friend request, submit feedback, mute, or compare GamerScores and Trophies. You can just imagine how many people open up yours. They can see games you've played, how much you play it, and so on. You can sometimes tell when they do, as their inane chatter can be heard in game lobbies, such as "Aw! You won't see me in some Street Fighter!" Or, "You have a Kinect? Wanna play a game of Table Tennis?" Obviously, it's easy to tell which games you play. Though it is a good way to connect with your fellow gamers, it could make you the subject of ridicule. Usually, attacks are countered with a witty comeback, or a simple mute button. The same has happened with me and my silly kid's games. But thinking about it, what has either party won? Maybe it's time that gamers loosen up and take in the fact that other enjoyable games exist. Or maybe that won't happen at all, and every other game will be abolished. Maybe I'm just childish. Either way, I'm not letting anyone knock my blocks down.
Gaming for All.
